Since few days have passed from Elvis’ birthday, it came to my mind this enjoyable book from J.R.Rain, Elvis has not left the building. Mr Rain only publishes in e-book form, and generally -but not only- writes about paranormal stuff, vampires, ghosts and such. In this novel he ventures in the theory that Elvis is not really dead after all, but lives in LA and he’s a private detective in Hollywood area. Nothing particularly fancy, I know, but there are good peculiar details on how he managed to escape from Memphis more than 30 years ago, and it’s a fun story, this adventure of private eye Aaron King (ah ah).
Anyway, Elvis is learned in finding missing persons, and this will be a tangled mess to solve. Above all, this is a book who makes the King alive again, and it’s good to see how in the story people seem to catch glimpses of him, because even at 70 years old and with a plastic surgical operation Elvis is still Elvis. A lot of fun, until the discreet comeback on stage, and a nice ending. It may not be a masterpiece but it’s a good read, and I hope Mr. Rain will be in the mood for a sequel.
Buonasera, essendo da poco passato il compleanno di Elvis mi è venuto in mente questo gustoso libro di J.R. Rain, autore che pubblica solo su ebook e che scrive parecchio di vampiri, fantasmi ma non solo. In questo libro Rain si avventura addirittura nell’ipotesi che Elvis non sia morto, ma che sia addirittura diventato un investigatore a Hollywood (!), e non vi risparmio altri gustosi particolari su come sarebbe riuscito a sparire più di trent’anni fa e sul s…uo nuovo nome (Aaron King 🙂 ). Comunque il nostro mito si è specializzato nel ritrovare persone scomparse (che strano eh…), e dovrà rischiare tutto per risolvere un caso particolarmente intricato. Che alla fine non è altri che una scusa per far rivivere il nostro amato Re del rock, e gustarsi come le persone credano di riconoscere qualcosa in lui (a 70 anni e con un’operazione chirurgica Elvis rimane Elvis) e altri momenti divertenti, fino al (discreto) ritorno sulle scene e bella sorpresa finale. Non sarà un capolavoro ma vale la lettura: anzi se J.R. Rain ci fa un sequel sarebbe gradito…
